This Dorset born online store founded by Helen and Charlie Camm has been a joy to find. Full of gorgeous well designed and made products with a rustic edge, with Oggetto you are sure to find something to fall in love with.

Focusing on all the rooms in the home, Oggetto is has a well curated selection which naturally flows between product categories, making it easy to choose a look and style you can expand on throughout different rooms.

‘Oggetto (pronounced or-jet-oh) is the Italian word for object and we believe beautiful objects help make a house a home. From our base in Dorset in South West England, we design and source products for designers, makers, artisans and small producers in th UK and around the world with a simple understated aesthetic and timeless appeal, as much at home in the town or country.’

This young online store [ launched 2016 ] is all about craftsmen and designers from the UK. All the items found in this ‘marketplace’ are handpicked by a team focusing on style and substance.

‘We’re passionate champions of independent makers, and we strongly believe that it’s possible to by beautifully crafted work that is both eco – conscious and style conscious. We select work based on both craftsmanship and design so that you can achieve a modern, thoughtful and stylish look using exceptionally made, luxurious, handcrafted items’ 

The website is fully gorgeous homeware including accessories, furniture, lighting, prints and gifts with each item having a story behind it, introducing the product and it’s designer. We love the soft furnishings and furniture.

The Maker Place also has a great blog [ The Maker Press ] sharing new products, inspiration and introducing new designers. 

This kind of online store is very much needed, supporting independant designers and makers, and in return you gain an individual handcrafted treasure for you home.

Take some time out from shopping the high street or placing online orders and head to a Christmas Market this year, supporting independant businesses. We recommend the Crafty Fox Night Markets on Thurs 8th Dec & Thurs 15th Dec. The first is held at The Museum Of London, Docklands with a selected 70+ designer makers, workshops and a dj. [ open 4pm – 9pm ]

The second is taking place at The Geffrye Museum,  Hoxton with 65+designer makers and artists selling their work. Grab some mulled wine and browse the stalls in this amazing space. [ 4pm – 9pm ]

Both evets are free.

West Elm champion small brands and supporting them with pop ups and workshops held regularly at their central London store on Tottenham Court Road store. 

This November there is a collection of workshops and brands brought together by the fabulous 91 magazine. This pop up collaboration, inspired by the A/W issue of the magazine, unites lovely brands and makers in a four day event combining selling, talks and workshops

The four day pop up event includes learning how to make a wall hanging, basic weaving, produce clay decorations and talks include learning all about bringing hygge in your home.
