We love Nikki McWilliams and her amazing cushion and accessory collection that even though this is a workshop to make a clutch (from her original cushion designs) we couldn’t help but want to shout about it. These tickets will sell out first.

In the last year Oliver Bonas has really made a statement with its homeware and is continuing this through great on- trend furniture. The latest item to hit the site is these funky wire framed storage units.
Available in a variety of sizes and colours including coral, copper and pale blue they are perfect in a kitchen for displaying tableware, books and jars. Use one in a bathroom for storing towels and linens, or dress one up in a living room with pictures, plants, books etc.
This is a trend to expand what may be a naive view that pink is just for little girls or lounges in the eighties.
Modern pink interiors are cool, striking, yet calming, and the range of shades that sit together well and with other colours give ample opportunity to find the right shade to work for you.
Hot pink look clean with white // Pale shades looking subtle against warm woodsLayering up shades of pink is so effective for a rich inviting interiorChoose pinks to suit you. Pink can be introduced in small details, accessories and soft furnishings. Bolder use of the colour can be for walls in paint or wallpaper. The strongest look is combining shades for every element of a room and building the look with textures and patterns.
If pink seems to much to have as the main colouring in interior design then try using it as a highlight colour. It’s a perfect addition to a monochrome room and works beautifully alongside other high light colours including copper, soft grey and beige.

There are some gorgeous hand painted items available at the moment, from floral plates to polka dot mugs. The idea is so simple it’s worth giving it a go yourself.
Get hold of some basic white tableware [ try Ikea ] and then decide what look you want to achieve. Go monochrome and use a black pen to create a dot or stripe effect, or bring colour using paints [ dishwasher safe ] to make swirls, floral designs or a geometric pattern. Be as creative as you want, whatever works within your home.
It’s a handy pen pot or organiser, great for brushes, cutlery or pencils but would also work great for a plant pot for small indoor plants. Cluster a few together with varying size house plants for a great kitchen display – or use as fresh growing herbs pots!
Both practical and perfect for the metallic trend.
We love a statement mirror and this example from Urban Outfitters in no exception. The colour-block mirror with tinted panels is perfect for any room, especially a hallway or living room.
Museum and tourist attraction shops are always full of great gifts, homeware and amazing design, and the shop at The Barbican is no different.
Not just for a postcard or a branded pencil this store is full of well curated ranges of modern designers including super ceramics, prints and homeware gifts.
The whole retro, midcentury (up to the 80s) design is emulated in the styles and trends that the products are designed to. If you like industrial, brutalism and midcentury design you’ll love the shop and be able to fill your home with great pieces.
And if you love that design even more, check out The Modern House (the modern estate agent) to see if there’s properties available to buy in The Barbican complex – love the style, live the style.
Goods available online but for the full range visit the store on site.
Head to east london this October to visit another brilliant Modern Shows event. Get hold of some fantastic mid century pieces with some of Europe’s best dealers in furniture, ceramics, glassware, fabrics and much more.
If you like a bit of Eames, Jacobsen and Bertoia then this is the place for you. This time not only can you explore all the usual great offerings, but you can marvel at the Grade II listed Haggerston School. This is Erno Goldfinger’s only secondary school built between 1964 and 1965.
Always popular and stylish for walls, typography and quote based prints work well as alternative art for the walls. It can create a modern, clean look which isn’t fussy for a room, as well as depending on the wording can be motivational or inspiring.
We love the huge selection of prints at King&McGaw. It has an extensive range of styles and designs with great brands and artists on their books. The price range is broad from basic prints to more rarer designs.
Search under ‘typography’ and ‘quotes’ and explore the range.
