From Marks and Spencer, here’s some bakeware and kitchenware you’ll want out on show even when you’re not using it.
With prices from as little as £3, there is an assortment of bakeware to create amazing cakes, inspired by vintage and Victorian designs; tableware for tea time which is intricately patterned and beautiful; plus assorted well designed kitchenalia.
We love a new season with lots of new arrivals hitting the stores. A favourite of ours spotted this week is from Rockett St George. Their Soho Ceramics range of vases and planters is the perfect addition to any home. The 70’s colours will bring warmth to a room and the paint dipped finish creates texture and pattern. A quirky addition is that all the ceramics are named after streets in Soho, London.
If you love pastels and muted tones then you will be pleased to know they will still be featuring heavily in homeware throughout the rest of 2016. Ferm Living shows proof of this with its new A/W2016 lighting collection.
Called COLLECT this lighting series features socket pendants in brass, black, grey, blue and rose, forming the core to the collection. Then add to it dome, cone, disc or record shaped shades in matching colours. Mix and match the different elements to create the perfect light for you.
[ available from 22nd Sept / prices start at £62 ]
As the sales are over there is plenty of new arrivals in stores. One brand we have always got excited by is Habitat and it’s ceramics and this new collection is as good as ever.
With a focus on vases, ther is lots of splatter paint effects, stripes and ombre, all in a multitude of colours, and we love them.
It’s making a comeback in the home through its versatility, sustainability and general attractive appeal. Cork is being used more and more in products this year and is becoming a big hit.
Cork is being combined with glass for gorgeous tableware, used as table tops and forms the base on ceramics including vases and bowls. Lighting can also use cork, not only is it durable from a practical point of view, but it looks great in a pendant style.
Cork is a material that can be used subtly within other trends and by keeping the natural colour it blends with other materials really well like concrete, wood, marble and glass.
Be bold and cover a wall with cork. Not only does it bring a great texture and look to a space but used in the right room it can become a useful memo wall, used for pining up pictures, notes and decorative item. An office would be the obvious room to try this out in.
Alternatively bring cork to the floor using tiles. Again the texture creates interest and is hard wearing. [ Check out floormaker.co.uk for cork wall and floor tiles ]
Sinnerlig range from Ikea
Another way to have cork in your home is to have it as a table top. Either on a dining or coffee table cork is durable, water-repellent and easy to clean. Ikea’s Sinnerlig range is a perfect way to introduce yourself to cork.
So this year look beyond coasters & table mats and experiment with a new love for cork.
We havn’t featured Tiger [ new name Flying Tiger Copenhagen ] for a while and after spotting these metal baskets we needed to share. Available in five colours and two different designs these colourful bassets are great for any room and especially a kids bedroom. Use them as fruit baskets or perhaps as a waste paper bin. At only £3 each you can treat yourself to a couple.
One of our favourite stores we found this year is Room 356. This home and lifestyle store is full of beautifully designed pieces from stationary to lighting, jewellery to ceramics.
Room 356 started in 2014 by Mother and Daughter team Cassie & Bev with their bricks and mortar store in Bolton with an accompanying online shop, blog and social media accounts.
