There’s a great discount, in the Habitat sale, on this gorgeous dogtooth MOMO armchair.

Originally £395.00 and reduced to £275.00, this great retro inspired armchair is a great investment.

It could be set in a great monochrome designed interior or mixed up with clashing colourful pattern cushions, sat against a bold colour painted feature wall.

Another great way to bring plants indoors this Summer is with these concrete vessels in a wire diamond shaped frame from Umbra.
Available in two sizes we love the grey and copper combination. Mix the different sizes togther on a wall, filling them with a selection of plants. Alternatively use the vessels for stationary in an office, or combine both options, the choice is yours.

Look out this Summer for some great vintage and mid century markets, and after last week’s we have found another.

This times it’s Judy’s Vintage Fair and runs all over the UK arriving in London once a month.

‘Founded in 2010 from a gap in the market and some serious love for old-world furnishings, Judy’s founded ‘The Vintage Furniture Flea’ in our London residency, Bethnal Green. Covering furniture and homewares, textiles and electricals, the event was to be a mid-century celebration, a showcase of decoration from the fifties and beyond, all bound by affordability.’

If your looking for something kitsch and collectable then don’t miss out.

‘With traders coming from all over the UK, expect to see the eclectic:chairs, tables and more by giants like Ercol and G-Plan, barware and kitchenalia, textiles and fabrics, sewing machines, cameras, record players and radios, cocktail glasses and figurines, posters and magazines, lampshades, mirrors and more – from toys to telephones, ceramics to lighting, no box is left unticked!’

With so much nature inspired  homeware this season from fern leaf print fabric upholstery and wooden accessories to woodland scenes in wall prints and floral designs on glassware, we couldn’t help but fall in love finding these gorgeous cabbage design vases from the great online store Mia Fleur

These would look great both single and minimal on a shelf in the sunlight full of tulip stems as well as clustered with colourful wild flowers.

It’s a beautiful white vase at just £15.95 which would be a great gift, treat for yourself or even a beautiful, elegant centre pieces for a wedding table.

Gone are the days when you simply put a mirror up in your bathroom, bedroom or hallway just for it’s practical purpose. Mirrors in the home now are seen as design statements and decorative objects.
The variety of designs available in stores and online offer you a great selection to choose from.
We’ve picked some of the popular on trend styles and our favourites.
One of the biggest trends this year is bringing mixed metal finishes on mirror frames – copper, brass and gold – often with a strong industrial feel. Rounded edge square and rectangular mirrors work great in achieving this look.
Another popular choice is the round hanging mirror. Get the simple scandinavian feel with the mix of wood and leather.

2. Set of 2 mirrors / wayfair.co.uk [ £52.12 ]
3. Copper mirror / anthropologie.com [ £98 ]
4. Wall mirror with shelf / rockettstgeorge.co.uk [ £99 ]
5. Brass mirror / made.com [ £129 ]

Bring colour and texture into your room with a bright frame or subtle blocks of metallic and pastels. The popular geometric trend continues to grow and works really well in mirrors – we love the ferm living wonder mirror, combining a hexagonal design with different woods, doubling up as a shelf for displaying objects.
Mirrors don’t always need to be flat either. Go bold with a 3D inspired design, bringing a strong focal point to a living room or bedroom.

Guide:
6. Shelf mirror / fermliving.com [ £199 ]
7. Round mirror / johnlewis.com [ £150 ]
8. Round mirror / habitat.co.uk [ £45 ]
9. Colourblock mirror / westelm.co.uk [ £99 ]
10. Oblique mirror / dwell.co.uk [ £249 ]

Get a vintage look with a hanging art deco inspired mirror. Rather than going for a modern feel with leather or rope hanging element, pick a thin delicate chain. This combined with a more ornate shape will give a strong decorative statement.
For a bigger statement go for a retro sunburst mirror. This popular mid century design is having a resurgence in homes and works really well in a modern inspired room. The gold or brass finish sits really well with dark walls of grey or navy.
With wooden framed mirrors avoid light colours and opt for dark wood veneers like walnut or mango.

12. Walnut vaneer mirror / ikea.com [ £60 ]
13. Art deco mirror / oliverbonas.com [ £28 ]

It’s not just the larger items of furniture for the garden to think about as the warmer weather arrives but the little accessories too.

For lighting in the garden it’s good to think about solar or battery powered options to avoid the need to get electricity outside although whilst renovating a house it’s always good to plan ahead and get outdoor sockets fitted.

For use with battery powered lights or candles we love these pretty home made tin can lantern lights. Fairly simple to make with tools including a hammer and nails or bradle or similar.

We found this simple tuturial on Inhabitat.com that step by step guides you through the make. It also mentions a useful tip to freeze your tin cans before using to help avoid denting and for ease of punching the design out.

Designs can be pattern-based, outlines of butterflies or birds or you could even do letters and spell out a name or phrase. These would be great at an outdoor wedding with the names of the bride and groom or simply ‘love’ or ‘happiness’.

Punch design pattern templates to follow if you’re not confident with freehand can be drawn on first and you can also download and print patterns to follow.

The ‘Marlowe‘ smoked glass and copper ceiling light from Habitat is a beautiful piece of lighting that could work well in a cluster, or stand alone, and would look great with a feature bulb.

Habitat has a few great bulbs to choose from but many stores have huge ranges with great designs including squirrel, coil and spiral

Designed by Aaron Probyn exclusively for Habitat, it’s an excellent investment at just £60 that will be a modern design statement within the home.
