Lighting is an essential part to any room, and nothing is more important than a centre piece like a statement pendant light. We have found this gorgeously simple and elegant design from Marks & Spencer.

The combination of stained solid oak and black metal shade is on trend and works really well in both a bright white room or against darker shades of blue and green.

It’s also at a great price of £43.99 [ £99 ]

Last year there was a huge popularity in animal figure lights, from monkeys to dogs, flamingoes to rhinos. The simplicity of these lights have been a big hit and this season it’s all about the mouse. These lamps from Graham & Green are very cute, with three different designs to choose from [ sitting, standing and lying ]. The white resin mould holds an LED bulb giving the perfect light for a bedside table or for creating atmosphere in a corner of a room.

Whether Moroccan, Scandinavian, minimal, country cottage, midcentury, industrial, boho or luxe style is your thing, there will be woven baskets to suit.

Across high street and online stores, from high end brands, woven baskets are filtering down the chain so all homeware brands will have in their ranges this year.

Easy, adaptable and practical for storage, however big or small there’s a use for woven baskets all over the home – for magazines in the lounge, to store blankets, great for indoor planters, housing nick nacks or bath toys in the bathroom, keeping all your wrapping paper handily stored, for fruit, for eggs, for bread, for outdoorwear kept handily at the front door, as a laundry bin, as display, to keep knitting stored… the uses are endless.

For great styling, mix and match heights in clusters and tie in colours to your decor or wood tones.

Our favourite bargain outlets for getting great baskets are IKEA , Homebase , Habitat or local garden centres. For on trend Moroccan style baskets head to Bohemian Design or Riadstore

Shelving can bring so much to a room, giving extra dimension and interest to a plain wall. With so many options it’s sometimes hard to pick something that will work. A style we love is the floating box shelf, created simply from four pieces of wood. This style can be adapted in many shapes including hexagon or house designs. You can adapt the shelving to your needs whether it’s shallow shelves for ornaments or deeper ones for books and plants.

We have found some great tutorials to get you inspired.

Beautiful Copenhagen based brand, Ferm Living, have spent a decade producing and designing incredible homewares and furniture. Their clean, minimal, elegant design silhouette so identifiable to their name is highly admired and ergo regularly seen to be tried to be imitated and copied by other brands. The level of quality and materials is never achieved though. The lines are never as clean, and the colour tones never as pure.

Signature pieces that have influenced other people to design similar

Ferm Living is unique. This design comes with a price tag but these are pieces to invest in and collated well in home will result in beautiful interiors.

The design, colours and styles are well thought out and considered, with an obvious nod towards their Scandinavian heritage, a touch retro but most of all – every piece is like art, with great craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Excitedly we wait to see what 2017 brings for this brand.
