To bring interest and a bit of a unique edge to your interiors, it’s great to browse antique fairs and vintage markets for furniture, ceramics, lighting and accessories.
With over 300 stalls under one roof the Alexandra Palace Antiques and Vintage fair attracts people from across London and the surrounding area because of its wealth of choice and quality in shopping.
With Pop Up Vintage Fairs also now being a part of the event there’s even more stall holders offering midcentury, retro and vintage goods – so on-trend and what’s better than modern copies – the originals!
The next event is Sunday February 12th and then three more times spread across the year. Parking is free and entry is £6 but there’s often ways to get 2-for-1 entry, especially if you follow Pop Up Vintage Fairs on Facebook.

‘Isabella will talk you through step by step during the lesson. She will also bring various wall hanging samples that you can replicate or use as a base to create your own version. She has learnt and practice macramé, among other crafts, over the past year. She believes what you learn should be shared and is very excited to pass on these skills to other creators’

Signed Designs is the welcoming, small North London based woodwork workshop offering great classes to learn a variety of woodworking skills and produce a choice of a few different final projects including spice rack and planter.
These friendly carpentry classes are weekend based. The fun but focused classes range from 4 to 18 hour courses and are limited to three students per class to ensure dedicated tutoring.

Today we bring you an exhibition well worth putting in the diary. The Japanese House at the Barbican will be an amazing insight into architecture and design in Japan through the decades.
The Japanese House: Architecture and Life after 1945 is the first major UK exhibition to focus on Japanese domestic architecture from the end of the Second World War to now , a field which h as conistently produced some of the most influential and extraordinary examples of modern and contemporary design.

Here we are reaching the end of 2016 and we are celebrating both a cracking year for design and vision for homes and interior design but also the support and following of many great people who seem to appreciate our daily bite sized features.
It’s another great year for design across all departments, updates and new twists on trends we’ve seen before, new emerging brands and designers, and high street stores constantly surprisinging us with designs led style but at affordable prices.
We look ahead to finding new trends in 2017, giving us reasons to bring out the paint brushes and create new looks, getting to know the new brands at next year’s Design Festival and new collaborations with brands we love.
We’ll be sure to offer more great giveaways, the latest in interiors news and constantly listen to what you’d like to hear about and include everything that we can, as well as be ever grateful to your support, likes and shares.

Now in its ninth year Beazley Designs of the Year exhibition and awards brings a cross-section of contemporary design from six categories: Architectire, Digital, Fashion, Graphics, Product and Transport. The 70 shortlisted nominees are exhibiting at The Design Museum for public viewing.
‘ Beazley Designs of the Year celebrates design that promotes or delivers change, enables access, extends design practice or captures the spirit of the year. Someday the other museums will be showing this stuff’

Take some time out from shopping the high street or placing online orders and head to a Christmas Market this year, supporting independant businesses. We recommend the Crafty Fox Night Markets on Thurs 8th Dec & Thurs 15th Dec. The first is held at The Museum Of London, Docklands with a selected 70+ designer makers, workshops and a dj. [ open 4pm – 9pm ]
The second is taking place at The Geffrye Museum, Hoxton with 65+designer makers and artists selling their work. Grab some mulled wine and browse the stalls in this amazing space. [ 4pm – 9pm ]
Both evets are free.
