It has taken a while to get on board with having faux flowers in the home but more and more of us are exploring the possibility.

Now is a great time to find those realistic looking stems, ideal for dressing a table or shelf. This season has also seen an increased interest in a 70’s favourite – dried flowers.

Invest in one or two different stems and then mix in real flowers when required. The realism is so good now on these fauxs and of course they will last.

Also look out for faux plants, perfect for dark corners of rooms. No chance of killing these off!

Over the last few years we have seen a lot of shiny surfaces, metalic accents and pattern on cabinets and tables. This season we seeing less shine and more matt finishes.

Solid colour on worktops, cabinets and table tops is coming through into stores and we will be seeing it everywhere. Strong colour choices are pink, black and green.

This look is very much influenced by Scandinavian design and creates a much more harmonious interior with solid shapes and strong silhouettes.

Trends are seeing a modern take on the traditional four poster beds and there are many beautiful options to suit different bedroom styles and current trends.

Choose from varying tones of wood, minimal sleek black, metallic sheens, bamboo and even new versions of traditional moulded wood designs.

These beds create a focus and statement for a room. It’s an elegant look and can work as a base to design the rest of the room from.

Lighting is one of the most important parts of any room, whether you like you design subtle or full on.

This year we are seeing an increased popularity of antique inspired lights, including decorative chandeliers and wall sconces. The great thing about what we are seeing with reproduction lights is that the prices are a lot cheaper than if you were sourcing an original.

Make a statement with a decorative chandelier, fringing and glass. There are so many options to choose from, so be brave and go bold.

Definitely one of the strongest colours for the season. With a neutral yet warm feel, a nod to vintage and perfect as a highlight or accompaniment to many other colours, mustard is a great tone to introduce to an interior.

Mustard works well with olive, teak or walnut wood tones. It is a stand out tone to use in a mostly neutral and white interiors. We love it with other colours of the season – rust orange and olive green.

With any trend you can take elements of what you like and create the looks in individual rooms. This week’s trend focuses on vibrant colour and pattern. Take inspiration at whatever level and transform a room into an array of bold tones and print.

This trend is all about being a maxamilist and being brave on your choices. Mix florals with stripes, bright pink with green, leopard print and yellow.

If you don’t want to go for this look in the whole room then why not try throwing lots of colour on a picture wall or maybe find a corner you can experiment in with ab armchair and soft furnishings.

Having everything on display isn’t everyone’s idea of ease and open furniture certainly makes you busy with tidying but it’s also a great way to keep on top on buying excess clothing or homeware, to make you more organised and aware of what you own but also can allow you to use your everyday possessions as part of your display.

Colour blend your clothing, arrange books by colour or ensure all your nicknacks are similar style and trend to create a feature using your open furniture – either shelving, cabinet or wardrobe.

Glass doors can be a handy compromise to get the look and feel of open furniture but ensure things are kept clean and dust free!

Work with colour on the wall behind your storage. Dark tones together are particularly effective to create a slick interior design look but bright contrasting tones can really make what’s on the shelving stand out.

With an increased interest in handmade home accessories, this season we are seeing a lot more of this look in ceramics. Of course we know that some will not be handmade, but we are able to get the look, with uneven edges, organic shapes and engraving.

We are seeing subtle textures embossed onto vases and pots, engraved lines and even rattan decorated.

Colours are very nuetral, with stone, white, terracotta and black. Mix different styles and colours together for a curated look, and of course get your pops of colour this Spring with flowers and greenery.

The new ‘maritime’ trend has a far softer and subtle feel than nautical trends of the past.

Still with a feel of being in and around the sea coast but through textures, colours, patterns and imprints as opposed to more obvious use of rope, anchors and red, blue and white.

The colours are washed out blues, sandy beiges, dirty whites and with metallic hints to give an edge of boat engines, rusty hand rails and anchor chains and using natural weave in rugs, runners and chair seats; as a nod to sailors rope.

There’s much layering in textures and fabrics, with patterns of stripe, weave and linear illustration alike to shell patterns.

Add in collected nicknacks from travels, clusters of vases and stick to natural fabrics and surfaces – wood, wicker, bamboo, cotton, wool and silk.
