home: trend [ scales and scallops ]

We head into the deep blue sea for this current trend. Seeking inspiration from the curved beauty of natural scale patterns and scallop shell edges; homeware, furniture and fabrics embrace the design and use to create a softer look on wooden furniture, a pretty look for edges of mirrors or frames, a calming look with the colours and designs and a pleasing pattern for soft furnishings.

Mostly found in blue and green sea tones, natural beiges as well as creams and whites. It’s classier elegant sea side trend, more polished and grown up.

For small ideas, look for throws and cushions for the lounge or bedspreads in the bedroom. But these patterns to creep everywhere from vases, plates and tea sets to lighting, rugs and tiling.

If you loved herringbone for tiling, no doubt you’ll love scales too.
