With ever evolving technology, homeware brands are exploring more interactive ways to live our lives in our home.

Ikea has teamed up with Sonos to create the SYMFONISK collection. There are currently two products available – a speaker lamp and a speaker shelf.

‘At IKEA, we’re great at home furnishing but new to sound. Sonos, on the other hand, has expertise in sound and technology and is curious about new ways of making sound blend into the home – the same as us’

‘Combining the best of our two worlds we make high-quality sound affordable and available – and create products neither of us would be able to come up with on our own’

Table lamp – £150

Shelf – £99

IKEA are constantly bringing us new collections and challenging design within homeware to keep us coming back.

Their latest is ANNANSTANS, a handcrafted collection of cushions, ornaments and ceramics.

ANNANSTANS has a modern, urban expression, but not because of a machine. The pieces are crafted by hand, so each one is unique

‘In ANNANSTANS, meaning “elsewhere” in Swedish, the contemporary concepts of designer Martin Bergström find new expressions through social entrepreneur artisans in India, Romania and Thailand

This week we came across this cool woven chair from Ikea, and we think it’s a great price. At only £90 this rattan armchair would look great in a bedroom or additional chair in a living room.

Because it’s light weight it’s easy to move around, so why not use it outdoors during the day.

Head to themerrythought.com to be inspired to make this fab desk. Using an Ikea drawer unit as a base with the addition of a wooden table top and a pair of legs, you are good to go.

Obviously you will need to have some basic woodwork skills or at least know someone that has to complete this project, but it’s a great one.

We love the use of the drawer unit, it looks like it was meant to be part of the table and more expensive than it would actually be.

Keep your eyes peeled for a fab new range at Ikea this season. It’s called Tankvard and is a celebration of craftsmanship with glassware, textiles and furniture.

There is limited information about prices right now but looking at press images it’s a collection to get excited about. Lots of rattan and woven furniture alongside ink dyed bedding and cushions.

Tactility is central to TÄNKVÄRD. IKEA calls it ‘material-ism’ – a celebration of nature’s finest materials through sustainable style that ages well. Textiles you want close to your skin

The new collection mixes Japanese influences and design with Scandi style. A gorgeous range you will surely want to get you hands on.

We love a good hack, and this one from hunker.com is a goodie.

Turn an Ivar cabinet from Ikea into a really modern woven fronted alternative. By simply cutting a panel out of the doors and attaching some cane webbing you can make a huge transformation.
