With a great combination of vintage, hand made and in house designed products, A Room In My House is a great store for gifts, homeware and prints.

The brand has both an lovely online independent shop as well as a well-curated store on the popular marketplace, Etsy

The brand divides their ranges between the two selling areas with the vintage homeware being in the Etsy store together with handmade products and prints; and then solely their in-house designed goods, in their own webshop

Their vintage collection, on Etsy, includes glassware and ceramics from the 1950s-1970s and this is complimented by gorgeous handmade cushions in either vintage fabrics or crochet.

Explore the main store for both photographic and typography inspired prints by the duo who run the brand, as well as stationery and cards. There’s even extra goodies including paperback letter racks – clever holders for photos, cards or letters made by hand from books, which make great gifts.

Follow the brand on social media for news of new products and where to shop with them in person as well as news of extra products to buy that aren’t always available online.

Picture walls are really popular at the moment – collecting various photos, artwork and images together, bringing focus to a wall. A really cheap and easy idea to bring pattern and colour onto a wall is to frame wallpaper.
Either use old wallpaper left overs, possibly from friends / family, or order samples direct from the retailer [ these are usually free or at a small cost ].
Maybe there is a strong wallpaper you have used in one room and you want to use what’s left in a different way in another room.

For some great wallpaper choices check out John Lewis and Graham & Brown.

The power and impact of large scale art in a room is great. Make a statement or bring a strong colour or theme to a room with a huge print. It’s generally a fairly expensive thing to aquire but US online store, Sycamore Street Press, amongst the range of other fab paper goods and homeware, have the super idea of offering downloadable digital PDFs of brilliant photographic prints that can be printed yourself at your local printers to whatever size (up to 48” x 36” – which is huge)

We absolutely love this way of bringing the outdoors in, with their print range of cactus photographs. Fresh natural images taken from the cactus garden in Huntingdon, Pasedena (California) which create a airy feel and evoke the feeling of the outdoors  – allowing the natural world inside and are almost window-like when hung. Either frame, stick or use hanging bars for these huge pieces of art.

Brilliant art at only $9 per download from the Sycamore Street Press.

There’s always room for more beautiful art on a wall. John Lewis has a talent to hunt out some incredible artists and graphic designers and have a huge, varied range of styles of work.

We picked this gorgeous Tiffany Lynch print, that is only £5, as our favourite. The colour, the detail and the stylized effects come together to ensure this is a stunning vibrant piece, inspired by nature and perfect to bring a bold, Spring feel to a room.

Tiffany Lynch is inspired by the magic of nature, it’s wildlife and changing seasons, her paintings on canvas always find their origins in her pen and ink sketchbook drawings.

Discovering TipJunkie was a good moment. A collated selection of DIY projects all designed with the typography fan in mind.

From creating giant initials to hang on the wall to decoupage with book pages to word art, this feature has 16 projects to have a go at.

Our favourite DIY is the printed letters or numbers on a cork board, as featured in last Friday’s trend post. Either freehand or with stencils, with emulsion paint and a brush or sponge, you can get creative with words, letters and numbers on a simple plain cork board (see bottom right in the picture). A good spray varnish finish will help to ensure your work lasts and won’t chip with the daily use.

Home accessories and styling created with typography designs are the perfect way to personalise your home, whether it be the initials of the family hung on the wall, or the pages of your favourite book pasted onto the wall, a quote you love on a giant canvas, or even stencilled letters spelling out ‘welcome’ on a wooden hallway floor as you enter the house.
