Plants, plants, plants; the urban gardener is still as popular as ever.

Bring the outdoors in with leaf ceramics – add a dash of retro, and you get this great plate from HM. There’s a definite vintage inspiration.

To bring a room together or to give you a starting point for styling and picking colours for a room; a statement rug is the place to start.

The two main routes to take for interior designing from the chosen rug is to keep the rest of the room simple and minimal and take colours from the rug for small highlights around the room or follow the maximalist trend and continue from the statement rug with bold walls, patterns in soft furnishings and layer textures.

We love this diy project, and it’s so adaptable to your style and room. This woven lamp is simply made from two metal lamp shade frames and some cotton thread in various colours.

Attach the two frames together and then you can start getting creative weaving the thread. It’s an intricate process but we’ll worth it.

Inspired by interiors of the orient, this eastern trend is chic and now with a modernised edge.

Layer up intricate patterns of flowers, birds and illustrations on cushions and other soft furnishings. Keep the colour palette rich but muted tones.

Although busy with pattern and design ensure some larger areas – a wall or two, the rug or the sofa colour is paler and less fussy. Add accessories in lacquered black to add a contrast and richness to the scheme, with flashes of gold and iridescent pearl tones in lighting, ceramics and picture framing.

With discounts of up to 50% it’s worth a browse. We love this colourful Blox cushion which was £15 But is not half price at £7.50!

All the richness, all the luxury, wrapped up in one colour – indigo. This dark shade is currently best on mass to make a super rich feel to an interior. Embrace wall colour, rugs and soft furnishings to create the strongest look with small metallic, blush or other rich jewel tone highlights.

For a lighter look match indigo with clean white, to lift and brighten a room. Use rich blue tones on walls and furniture, but use white for floors, ceilings and in patterns on the soft furnishings.
