Key trend of the season, jewel tones are staying around. An easy and beautiful way to introduce these tones of colour to any room, is with glassware.

Glasses, vases, plates, dishes, bowls, jars – when in beautiful jewel tones, are pieces of art – homeware meant to be on show, displayed, and a great way to bring colour to an interior.

It’s a colour palette that seems to be being embraced across the high street and therefore at a range of prices.

Our favourite idea is to create rich, colourful table settings by combining glassware, plates and vases of different tones. Add highlights of copper or gold (cutlery, candelabras or napkin rings) to finish the look perfectly.

In case you missed out last time, we’ve spotted another chance to catch the great ‘working with Jesmonite’ workshop with the London Craft Club.

There’s one tonight but there’s another on July 3rd!

They say;

Get ready to meet your new favourite material, Jesmonite. What is Jesmonite I hear you ask? Well it’s a cross between concrete and resin, that can be coloured and used to create awesome effects like terrazzo and marbling. Intrigued? Then read on…

In this introduction to working with Jesmonite you will learn all about this amazing material from our expert Haidee. She will discuss different applications for Jesmonite, and tell you about the different effects you can achieve. Then you’ll make a mould for your trinket dish – choose from a triangle, diamond, or hexagonal shape for your final piece.

Haidee will then show you how to mix your Jesmonite, how to colour it, and you will be able to cast your very own geometric trinket dish! It’s such an amazing material to work with, we know you are going to want to go home and make more pieces for everyone you know! You’ll leave with a finished Jesmonite trinket dish, plus all the knowledge and skills needed to make lots more.

For creating a beautiful unique dining table or alternatively to be hung as art on the walls. There’s a huge array of decorative plates to choose from – patterns, styles, colours, designs, and illustrations galore.

This can create such a special look for dining. Layer up plates of design and colour to compliment napkins and clothes to create a table that almost tells a story.

For a wall display, go eclectic with a clash of patterns and designs. Or for a more minimal look mix the odd detailed design or illustration with plain colours and block patterns – this in all monochrome would be a perfect look.
