It’s rich, but calming; readily available in homeware across the high street; easy to match up with similar hues in paint and wallpaper; and compliments well with other on trend favourites including metallic tones, monochrome or jewel tones – or you go true to the trend and have design braveness in having everything being in the teal colour! – a strong bold look.

A simple and easy way to modernise and update a room is to use rugs. Bring colour and pattern into a room without it being overpowering. A great place to get well priced rugs is Ikea; simple and stylish examples ranging in size and shape, but all at great prices. Our favourite at the moment is the ROSKILDE indoor / outdoor rug in teal green and cream [ 200cm x 250cm ]. The 50s / 60s inspired design will bring interest to any room and at £59 it is a real bargain.

Habitat are a forerunner in great design and affordable priced interior design and homeware.

Their regular sales are not to be missed and this week we found this lacquered wood and metal side table with a retro feel, nod towards colour blocking and great for an update to a lounge or used as bedside tables.
