Be bold and embrace the beauty of wallpapers that have strong large prints of flowers, shapes and geometric designs.

There are different ways to style the trend and you can choose to be more maximalist or have a clean, minimal style.

To go for a bold look, maximise the clashing strong designs; use various flower prints, various illustrative prints or shape designs to layer up a rich look. Look for sofas, armchairs, soft furnishings that the patterns sit together by colour but have variance in size and design.

Alternatively opt to just have the bold impact of the wallpaper and have far simpler plain accessories and furniture. Pull out a few colours from the wallpaper to have block colours for the sofa and chair or bed linen. Metallic highlights in chair or bed frames, homeware pieces, framed artwork or ceramics can be very effective to add dimension to the room.

You can also create more depth to a room by pulling one colour from the wall paper to use as a solid paint colour on the other walls. Think about papering the largest wall, most likely where the sofa goes, for a more modern look; instead of the more traditional ‘feature wall’ idea of the wall with the chimney breast and fireplace.

Search the sales and find some excellent pieces that are investment pieces but with a more enticing price tag.

This beautiful Ohio lamp from Made.com would make a statement in any interior and is now just £89 (was £149).

In muted grey and brass, it’s minimal look isn’t fussy or showy but looks like a lamp that would have a far higher price tag.

Slip into a monochrome or natural trend interior to introduce a lovely soft lighting to a room.

home: trend [ natural finishes ]

A big trend we are seeing this year and in particular this Summer, is natural finishes.

This stripped back look can be seen on tables, chairs, lighting & mirrors. Of course you probably don’t want to deck out your whole room in eveything pale wood, but just a few of these pieces will mix well together.

If you like a neutral colour pallete or earthy tones are your thing, this is where you can have the most fun. In a dining room a natural finished wooden dining table and chairs can look amazing against a dark green wall or black kitchen cabinets.

In a living room a wooden lampshade can be a lovely addition. The light is often softened and it will certainly be a focal point.

If you choose items that are also untreated then you have the option of painting them at a later date. There are so many great colour choices available.
