The new collection from EK Colours is simply perfect. Their contemporary hand finishes ceramic alphabet tiles in the playful font are so appealing! Like pieces of art individually, these tiles make a statement and could be grouped to spell words or used independently amongst other tiles.

The collection is designed in London and decorated and made in Staffordshire.

Have a peak at the designers gallery for inspiration to use in the home.

At the start of next year we will be seeing a lot of cool blues, greens, pearl white and pale grey, with print and pattern taking inspiration from the sea. Bring comfort and serenity into a room with soft accents of colour and lots of soft furnishings like throws, sheepskin and rugs.

bookcase from ikea.com [ £21 ]
A strong black and white pattern on furniture and cushions work perfectly against the blue, whether on a feature wall or furniture. Carefully choose the pieces to carry the bold colour, something like an armchair or bookcase in a living room or perhaps dining chairs in a kitchen. Layer different tones of blue and green bringing depth to your space.
Accessories like vases are a good place to start with some gorgeous pearlized finishes available in stores, in aqua greens and rich indigos. Bring in metalics like copper and zinc to add more interest to a room.

rug from laredoute.co.uk [ from £85 ]
This trend is great for any room and can be adapted to suit the space. Aqua and turquoise can be overwhelming if over used but if used as an accent rather than a base you can create a beautiful modern space.

The look of floating or modular shelving is minimal and clean with brands like Ladderax and String being the leaders in design; both in the last few decades and in present day.

We came across a great DIY tutorial from OldBrandNew which is a great way to produce a similar look at a fraction of the price as well as being satisfying that it’s homemade.

Making your own means you can also customise the size, dimensions and colour yourself with UK based suppliers offering all the equipment you’ll need from adjustable wall system racks from hardware stores including Wickes, BigDug and Screwfix, to high street DIY stores, like B&Q, having a good choice of ready cut wood shelves to use on the system as well as offering a cutting service when you give your own measurements.

Untreated wooden wood could be finished how you want in round stains, paint or varnish, and wall brackets can be bought in a few different colours or sprayed to the colour you want.

These systems are always easily changeable, can be added to and even the colour changed at a later date.

To organise all your little bits in the bathroom, as a soap dish or just ornamental; we love this Salvage Trinket Tray from Dunelm at only £3.49.

Amongst the rest of their bathroom accessories at very affordable prices, this great little ceramic piece is a great addition to a bathroom and would also make a lovely gift.
