It would be great left in simple plain wood but there would be lots of decorative ideas and projects that could work.

It would work well painted – a dark tone to make items pop, the colour of a wall to blend it in or pick a highlight colour from other accessories already in the room or pull a colour from the wall paper or patterned textiles.
