A new trend appearing for AW 16/17 is Native; a mix of craft, nomadic influences and natural tones alongside strong pattern and print on soft furnishings and furniture. Patterns to look out for a zig zag, arrows and contemporary Aztec. 

Colour plays a big role with statement rugs and throw bringing a room to life. Perhaps look at macrame wall hanging to bring texture and interest to a space, mixing it alongside prints and artwork to create a feature wall.

Inspiration for this trend also comes from animals and Native American illustrations looking to the past but with a modern twist and construction, antlers and sheep skulls work brilliantly. This trend is about creating a cosy and homely feel to a room. Warmth comes from heavy knitted & fur throws, vibrant printed rugs and cushions and if you are feeling brave go for a statement armchair or sofa in a strong pattern. All these elements bring the look together, even in an already white or nuetral room. 

The slightly rustic feel continues with hand crafted pieces in lighting, with illustrated furniture a key look. Solid units softened with pattern and colour in panels really help bring this look together. A simple and easy way to modernise and update a room is to use rugs. Bring colour and pattern into a room without it being overpowering. A great place to get well priced rugs is Ikea; simple and stylish examples ranging in size and shape, but all at great prices. Our favourite at the moment is the ROSKILDE indoor / outdoor rug in teal green and cream [ 200cm x 250cm ]. The 50s / 60s inspired design will bring interest to any room and at £59 it is a real bargain.

We love the nomad trend and it translates so well into blankets, throws, bedding, curtains, cushions and more so well. 

We discovered this great brand Bohzaar and think they have a great range of soft furnishings in nomad patterns in a great variety of colours to suit any interior.

The blankets are beautiful and at only £59 are a steal for such a large size

No home can have too many blankets – for their practical warming use or for aesthetic reasons they are always useful. Change the look or colour scheme of a room by throwing over a chair or sofa, add texture and pattern to a bed styling, bring soft furnishing outside and use with garden furniture or thrown over the grass and kick back – either way having a few alternative blankets in store to mix and match or chop and change is handy.
