Whether Moroccan, Scandinavian, minimal, country cottage, midcentury, industrial, boho or luxe style is your thing, there will be woven baskets to suit.

Across high street and online stores, from high end brands, woven baskets are filtering down the chain so all homeware brands will have in their ranges this year.

Easy, adaptable and practical for storage, however big or small there’s a use for woven baskets all over the home – for magazines in the lounge, to store blankets, great for indoor planters, housing nick nacks or bath toys in the bathroom, keeping all your wrapping paper handily stored, for fruit, for eggs, for bread, for outdoorwear kept handily at the front door, as a laundry bin, as display, to keep knitting stored… the uses are endless.

For great styling, mix and match heights in clusters and tie in colours to your decor or wood tones.

Our favourite bargain outlets for getting great baskets are IKEA , Homebase , Habitat or local garden centres. For on trend Moroccan style baskets head to Bohemian Design or Riadstore

home: trend [ olive green ]

Green is a colour associated with nature, harmony, safety and has a restorative effect. Olive green specifically is traditional colour of peace which is strong evidence that it’s a wonderful colour to use in the home. It’s a great colour to use on a big scale whether it’s wall paint, tiling or a large rug but what is particularly effective is layering up shades of a green and building a strong on trend look with the throws, sofas, cushions, paint on walls – all being in that olive tone. There are various shades of olive so the look can have a tonal variance.

Create texture by using knits, weaves and patterns in soft furnishings all in green and use pewter, warm or dark wood and black in other furniture with metallic highlights in small homewares.

home: trend [ sunset to dusk ]

The natural world brings us many inspirational colours that influence trends that find their way into our homes, and with blush pinks being so popular we now found all the tones of sunset to dusk being a new strong inspiration for our interiors.

This Nordic influenced calming colour palette brings together peaches, pinks, soft sky blues and lavender that contrast well with the colours of dusk and nightfall – the darker inkier blues, charcoal and black.

Look for smooth finishes, natural fabrics, woods and the softest hues of each shade. Use the dark tones on walls, lighting and floors with all the pale colours for furniture, soft furnishings and gone accessories. Colour block with shades of the same colour and keep pattern to minimum.

The boho trend in interiors is broad ; with colour and styles – but the layering and the type of fabrics or patterns is always key. Look for deep colour palette in weaves and wall hangings, hand crafted woods, worn leather, kilim and ikat patterns, lace, crochet and paisley.

It should be an effortless look that evolves and can be built on, with it benefiting from nik naks, flea market finds, homeware from world travel, heirlooms and collectables.

For online highstreet shopping try Urban Outfitters and La Redoute for a huge range of soft furnishings, cushions, throws, hangings, dishes and more that really fit this trend.

home: trend [ jewel tones ]

For those who want the antithesis of monochrome interiors and prefer a richer more opulent look then using jewel tones for interiors can give a warm, rich, homely and welcoming feel to a home.

A variety of jewel tones, including turquoise, teal, jade, ruby and burgundy can compliment each other and work well in a room together – but also varying shades of the same colour can be very effective and impactful.

Currently other on-trend colours including navy and copper sit very well with this colour palette and act well to set off the rich tones.

We love going bold with this trend and including floors, woodwork, furniture as well as soft furnishings all in the colour palette. Using high street brand Habitat paint is perfect as it works on both walls and wood to ensure matching colours throughout. And for fabrics opt for velvet, cord and satin to compliment the trend.

home: trend [ flexible furniture ]

Furniture and homeware design has to keep up with changing needs and demands of everyday living.

Heloisa Righetto, of trend forecasting and  analysis service WGSN Lifestyle predicts a move towards furniture that facilitates numerous different activities, and that the furniture will become ‘more fluid and less about novelty’.

Modular units, sofa systems, and customising your functions as you need is growing essential in the home. As lifestyles change and what we need from our living environments develop, our furniture can flex to accommodate those needs. Changes in work, play and leisure can push towards what we demand from our homes.

There has been a surge in integrated charging systems where electronic functions are combined with furniture or home accessories. Integration isn’t just for kitchens; stores including IKEA offer affordable products where wireless charging is designed into everyday products including bedside tables and lamps.

Flexible furniture as a concept is also beneficial to many peoples reduced living space (either by choice or finances) and furniture that can multifunction is both space saving and efficient in costs e.g. a sofa that incorporates seating, storage, room dividing and even the table is a three-in-one or even four-in-one piece. Even with the complex design specifications, and quality in that furniture this will no doubt be cost efficient.

Similar to flexible furniture we can also use the term ‘modular’ when a product or item furniture can be constructed of different components that can regularly flex and change to your needs. A modular sofa can adjust to how many people need seating, how you wish to relax or what direction you wish to face – both being easy to regularly change as well as add to with new modules. IKEA is an affordable leader in this market.

home: trend [ marble ]

Marble is cool, clean and calming in an interior. It can add an extra dimension to white interiors and sits perfectly with the current popular copper, metallic and pastel trends.

It can be introduced in a subtle or strong way.

For a big impact use on walls or floor. There are some great modern marble wall papers and marble tiles can be effective on both walls and floors. We found some incredibly affordable vinyl self adhesive tiles from B&Q that would be a cost effective, quick way to introduce marble into a room. Tiles can be a great alternative to feature wall paper for a focus in a room.

For subtle hints of marble use small homewares including vases, dishes, trays or even a small feature shelf to add a little of this trend to a room. To combine a few great trends try using a large marble tray on a white coffee table with a cluster selection of candles in metallic or copper holders – to make a central feature to your lounge.

1. Using a splash back of marble can lift a minimal white kitchen with a gentle touch of texture.

2. Ferm Living marble wallpaper / £59.95 Naken

3. Marble night light holders / from £6.95 / Rigby + Mac

4. Marble rectangle ceramic plate / £6.99 / H&M

5. Marble melamine tray / £16.00 / Mia Fleur

6. Marble, glass  + iron trolley / £395 / Oliver Bonas
