Not to be solely associated with a twee cottage in the countryside, this floral trend can be a beautiful layer on to a minimal white room. Deep hues of floral designs can be miss match and combine to create a rich look that can be really effective on a worn leather couch against a crisp white wall. Mismatching in the sane hues, varying the size of the print, can create a warm, coherent look that is cosy and inviting and easy to add to with new pieces to layer up.

Marble is cool, clean and calming in an interior. It can add an extra dimension to white interiors and sits perfectly with the current popular copper, metallic and pastel trends. 

It can be introduced in a subtle or strong way. 

For a big impact use on walls or floor. There are some great modern marble wall papers and marble tiles can be effective on both walls and floors. We found some incredibly affordable vinyl self adhesive tiles from B&Q that would be a cost effective, quick way to introduce marble into a room. Tiles can be a great alternative to feature wall paper for a focus in a room. 

For subtle hints of marble use small homewares including vases, dishes, trays or even a small feature shelf to add a little of this trend to a room. To combine a few great trends try using a large marble tray on a white coffee table with a cluster selection of candles in metallic or copper holders – to make a central feature to your lounge.

Seek time away from the busy hectic technical world we daily live in, by creating a natural sanctuary in your own home with the Urban Wild trend. 

This trend heals and soothes. Interiors that embrace this trend are as close to getting outdoors and enjoying the wild as you can get living in the big city. 

Combine natural colours and textures. In furniture, floors and walls use woods, aged stone, polished stone, wicker and metal to give a natural but industrial edge. For soft furnishings seek out leather, knit, cashmere, linen and even velvet. Combine soft and hard materials like goat hide for seating with metal structures for the bases, and layer up furs and fluffiness in rugs against polished grey slate flooring.

The use of tiles are storming interior design this year. It’s about thinking outside the box with both designs, patterns but also where to use tiles.

Not just for the bathroom walls or a hallway floor, but bring a cool design feature to a bedroom with a tiled back drop to a bed, to a lounge with a feature wall or even for function use on hallway walls to help with the marks and wear from heavy traffic through this busy room. 

Explore high street stores like Topstiles, Habitat, Homebase and B&Q ; and online retailers including Zazous and The London Tile Co for affordable tiles. Mix patterned tiles with plain, square with oblong and play with size and shape with hexagon shaped tiles, large scale tiles and mosaics. 

We found great inspirational imagery  from House & Garden and some gorgeous ideas from Grand Designs. 

You can also explore the vinyl tile market with modern brands including Zazous and Amtico producing up to date designs in vinyl that is hard wearing, easy to lay and with very competitive pricing compared to porcelain or ceramic tiles.

Be bold with pattern or play safe with neutral tones and then over lay with rugs to bring pattern and interest to an interior. 

Tiles are hard wearing and functional. Use instead of carpet or wall paper as a great alternative.

Bringing together all the tones of green with every accessory singing about the plant world and all its beauty, the botany trend embraces the delicacy of leaves, stems and fauna, the lushness of the natural world and the fresh feel that plants both real and in image bring to an interior of a room. 

There are many stores with fabric prints, wall art and home accessories with leaf print designs, most popular currently are fern, cheese plant and palm leaves. 

Head to HM, Southwood Stores, IKEA, Sainburys and many other online and high street stores for great selections of bontany inspired wares. This May, Habitat just brought Henry Holland on board for a collection #henryforhabitat which shouts loudly with leaf prints in textiles and upholstery. 

Across stores there are cushions, curtains, chairs, throws, lampshades and ceramics using leaf and botany illustrations, which can be brought together, layer and mix to create a real greenhouse freshness to a room. Cluster pictures of leaves or flower studies to make a gallery style display, mix leaf patterned cushions with plain green tone fabrics mixed inbetween and use glassware and ceramics in various greens as another texture. To break up the greens use oak, walnut or whites to add contrast. Make the impact strong by not using any other vibrant colours. 

Most importantly go wild with indoor planting. We love Botany in East London to get your plant fix – with their array of cacti, planting, foliage and more. Keep your eye on special offers on high street garden centre sections of DIY stores for discounts and special offer days – a great way to get big indoor planting at great prices. 

Use wall hangers in woods, concretes and metals, and macrame hangers to fill a room with real greenery; make bold statements with big architectural leaf plants in corners of rooms; and cluster varying size cacti on coffee tables or shelves.

With a little reinterpretation of the strength of wildness of the 1970s this trend is a contemporary take on the clashing patterns, natural textiles, pattern mixing of the original look. 

Bring together the organic feel of natural homewares including wicker, macrame, wood, jute and brick with the richness of burnt oranges, purples and brown. Use fabrics like velvets in sofas, weaves for walk hangings, hides and fluffy afghans in rugs and cushions and mix with earthy tones and metallics in the lighting, ceramics and sculptures. 

It’s with the wall and floor covering that this trend really gains strength. Introduce wood panelling effect walls, real exposed stone walls, textured giant wall hangings of rich colour themes and the key to this trend – lots of indoor planting. Another great trend for spring/summer is Exotic. A bright and vibrant trend full of print and texture. The main elements will come from the soft furnishings – floral and heavily patterned cushions, throws and rugs. Pile up cushions for depth on sofas and beds, with a statement rug as a focus in the middle of the room.

Wooden furniture, especially bamboo sit in this eastern influenced trend. Low units and tables work best in medium and dark woods.
Colours to consider are green, orange and purple with accents of gold and bronze, with texture coming from woven baskets and ceramics.
